Today was one of those cloudless, cool, days when it would have been a sin to stay indoors. I was curious to see what the Persimmon Creek Drive vistas looked like as Spring awakened new life -- and encountered the wheelman's bane, new gravel. At least it was #57 this time, rather than the harsh larger sizes. Soon, it was two paths of gravel, with a smooth path between. Things looked good! Alas, after a half-mile or so, the smooth path was filled in -- with larger, lumpy gravel. I turned around and retraced my steps. It's actually more comfortable going uphill than down when you deal with gravel, by the way.
At the 122 intersection, I had a moment to chat with Forest dwellers Carl and Kelly, who were preparing for the Storming Thunder Ridge ride by riding the Curtis loop part. That reminds me -- I need to go ahead and sign up for that adventure.
One of those days when you relish the opportunity to exert your muscles on long upgrades.
