That's sort of the feeling I have when a new class starts. Like Chaucer's pilgrims, a group convenes with a shared goal in mind. Along the way to their destination, they share stories. And since "non-traditional" (i.e. adult) scholars have minds of their own, and real-world experience, those stories can indeed be memorable.
People introduce themselves, and I try to provide something of value in my response. This gives me reason to look up all kinds of new stuff, and to find old stuff. (When my office chair begins to jiggle, it's either Vicky, or Small Calico Buzz Cat ... ) Today, for example, I found free MP3 files of the original radio series, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (click HERE). Forget the book. Forget the audio book. Forget the movie. This is the real deal, the original, hilarious, and unique entertainment experience. (What's the answer to life, the universe, and everything? You'll know when you finish this series!)
And, thanks to the "wayback machine," I found a link to a short story well worth enjoying, F. Paul Wilson's LipidLeggin' (click HERE).
Just to make it even better, I have two classes launching this week. Life is good, when filled with worthwhile stuff to do!
